Take a Hike with Mimi: Mohonk Preserve

Mimi is ending her Summer Hiking Series on a high, literally. Follow along as she heads straight up the Crag Trail, taking on a wild boulder scramble before reaching what she calls the “million-dollar view.” Along the way, Mimi talks hiking shoes and why the right traction really matters for a climb like this. One last hike, and this one is a good one!

🥾 Bonticou Crag Trail
• Distance: 2.75 miles
• Difficulty: Hard
• Elevation Gain: 1,000 ft.

⚠️ Good to Know
This is such a fun and challenging trail climbing up through the forest to the top of the white cliffs. The scramble is difficult and not recommended for children or those with fear of heights. If you would like to avoid the scramble, at the intersection with Northeast Trail, go north on the Northeast Trail to the intersection with Bonticou Path, where you then head south on Bonticou Path, uphill to the summit. The views from the top of the cliff are so stunning and always worth the effort hiking up.

🧭 Want to make it longer?
Add Table Rocks for a 5.8-mile hike with about 1,300 feet of elevation gain.
