Yields a 9-inch round pan
12 ounces Manischewitz Noodles
1 and 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup oil
6 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon salt
Cook noodles in boiling, salted water. Drain very well.
In a six-quart pot, over very low heat, dissolve sugar in oil. Stir constantly for 20–25 minutes until deep golden in color and liquefied.
Add noodles and mix vigorously. Leave noodles over low heat for 10–15 minutes until all crystals dissolve; stir frequently. Cool.
Add pepper and salt to beaten eggs. Pour over noodles, mix well.
Bake uncovered at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for additional 15 minutes.

what type of noodles? egg or regular?
It doesn’t matter, whatever you usually use. Either is good.
pan size? Hi – what size pan do you bake this in?
First timer here. I spent an hour trying to get the sugar to turn color and liquify over “very low heat”. I got upset and cranked my burner to medium and there I finally got some movement. I just hope I can still grasp a fork tomorrow when we will eat this. Lol. It didn’t say in your description but, I am new to Sabbath keeping and i am cooking this for the 45 minutes today (Friday) and plan to cook the 15 minutes covered tomorrow when we will then eat it. Is this how you do it?
Hi – what size pan do you bake this in?
Yerushalmi Kugel This was really good. If you want it sharper I’d put a bit less sugar but more pepper.
Delicious An authentic yerushalmi kugel with a lovely taste.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed it!
