Poke cakes are all the rage and for a good reason. Poke cakes are an easy and fun way to add texture and flavor to your favorite cake recipe. The holes in the cake create an oozy caramel bite with every slice. Go ahead and enjoy — we won’t stop you.

Ingredients

Vanilla Caramel Poke Cake

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix, prepared according to package directions, or your favorite vanilla cake (see alternative cake recipe below)

  • 1 and 1/2 cups prepared caramel sauce (found in the baking aisle)

Alternative Vanilla Cake Recipe

Directions

1.

If using a box mix, prepare and bake the mix according to package directions and skip to step 4.

2.

If preparing cake from scratch, preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

3.

Mix flour, sugar, soy milk, oil, eggs, pudding mix, and baking powder and mix until smooth. Pour into a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 40 minutes. Remove from the oven.

4.

As soon as cake begins to cool, poke about 30 evenly spaced holes into the cake. Pour caramel sauce over the holes so the flavor is absorbed in every bite.

5.

Prepare whipped cream according to package instructions and top the cake right before serving.
