This is a great twist on a classic tomato salad. I first tasted this at my sister-in-law’s house. She is known for her amazing shalosh seudos spreads, and this salad did not disappoint. To serve at shalosh seudos, fry mozzarella sticks in advance and bring to room temperature before serving.
6 mozzarella sticks (you can also use string cheese, but mozzarella sticks work better)
1/4 cup Glicks Flour
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup Gefen Flavored Bread Crumbs
1 cup oil, for frying
3 large tomatoes, halved and thinly sliced
1 small red onion, finely diced
1/4 cup Gefen Vinegar
1/4 cup oil
2 tablespoons Gefen Honey
1 tablespoon Gefen Mustard
Place flour, egg and bread crumbs in three separate bowls. Cut each mozzarella stick into thirds. Coat each piece in flour, then egg, then crumbs. Heat oil in a large frying pan over a medium flame. Fry cheese sticks on both sides until golden.
Mix dressing ingredients together. Combine tomatoes, onion, and fried mozzarella sticks and pour dressing over them. Toss and serve immediately.
