Sweet Occasion Walnut Bars

Ingredients

Dough

  • 6 ounces margarine

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 egg yolk

Topping

  • 2 eggs plus 1 egg white

  • 2 and 1/4 cups brown sugar

  • 2 and 1/2 cups ground coconut

Directions

Dough

1.

Combine ingredients for dough, mixing to form a crumbly dough.  

2.

Press into a nine- by 13-inch pan.

Topping

1.

Combine ingredients for topping, mixing well. Spread over dough.

2.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Cool and cut into half-inch bars.
