The irony of the name is that it’s not actually seven layers, but it’s delicious, especially when combined with salty chips, so who cares?
Though I stuck to a more traditional seven-layer dip, you can really use any of your favorite dips—I’ve seen this done with chummus, onion dip, techina, and others.
Yield: approximately 10–12 mini cups
refried beans (see below)
guacamole (see below)
sour cream
salsa
shredded cheese
1 (15-ounce) can red beans
1 teaspoon Pereg Cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Pereg Pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Pereg Garlic Powder
pinch of cayenne pepper
3 avocados, mashed
1 tablespoon Heaven & Earth Lime Juice
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
pinch of red pepper flakes
Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend until creamy.
Mix all ingredients together.
In a small, clear glass, layer refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and cheese. Serve with tortilla chips.
Alternatively, you can place the whole dip on a large serving platter and let everyone take for themselves.
