This is a great side dish for Friday night. It can be prepared on Thursday, refrigerated overnight, and baked fresh Friday afternoon. Tastes great hot, warm, or cold.

Ingredients

For the Crumbs

  • 2 cups flour

  • 2 cups oats

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • 2 sticks margarine (use soy-free if needed)

  • 1 and 1/3 cups brown sugar

For the Filling

Directions

For the Crumbs

1.

Mix flour, oats, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.

2.

Melt margarine and brown sugar together in the microwave and add to the flour-oat mixture.

3.

Press half of this “dough” in an even layer into the bottom of a nine- by 13-inch pan.

4.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Assemble and Bake

1.

Layer sliced apples over the “dough.”

2.

Pour cherry pie filling over apples.

3.

Crumble remaining “dough” mixture on top.

4.

Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Notes:

Can be frozen raw and thawed before baking.

oatmeal apple cherry kugel My kids are in love with it ,they cant get enough from it.
I tried putting sour cherries instead of cherry pie filling ,but wasnt as good as with the pie filling,I guess the jelly is really necessary

Yum Yum! I made this for Shabbos and it was so easy and a yummy sweet crisp. I used raisins soaked in warm water instead of cherry pie filling.
