These nutty buddies have the flavor of traditional store-bought nutty buddies, with the texture of brownie bars. They are soft, melt-in-your mouth, peanut butter and chocolate deliciousness. The combination of flavours is a classic that is too yummy to resists. Although there may seem to be a lot of steps in this recipe, it is actually very easy to make, and bonus: the kiddies can help with the dipping at the end!
3/4 cup Gefen Confectioners’ Sugar
3/4 pound margarine
1 tablespoon Gefen Vanilla Sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 and 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup Gefen Cocoa
3 tablespoons margarine, softened
3/4 cup Gefen Peanut Butter
4 ounces chocolate, melted
2/3 cup chopped almonds, roasted
Combine ingredients for dough until smooth.
Roll out on well floured Gefen Parchment Paper to 15×18″ rectangle.
Divide into 10 strips, 1 1/2 x 18″.
Combine margarine, confectioner’s sugar and peanut butter.
Form into 10 logs, 18″ long, 1/2″ in diameter.
Place one log in center of each dough.
Fold sides over.
Place seam-side down onto parchment paper lined cookie sheets. (Slide long knife under each roll for easier transfer)
Slit tops every 1 1/2″.
Bake for 8 minutes.
Do not overbake.
Cool.
Cut into bars.
Dip top of each bar into melted chocolate and into chopped nuts.
