Ingredients

No Fail Tuna Patties

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cans tuna

  • 2 eggs

Directions

Prepare the No Fail Tuna Patties

1.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.

Mix all ingredients by hand. Form into balls and press down to form patties in a greased baking pan. (Press down the patties exactly as you want them as they do not flatten in the oven while baking)

3.

Spray with cooking spray and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy!

That was fun. Exploring AIs, I popped this recipe into Sider.ai and asked “How can I make this recipe healthier?”

I got back:
No Fail Tuna Patties 3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cans tuna
2 eggs
1 cup cornflakes crumbs

No Fail Tuna Patties 3/4 cup mayonnaise 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 cans tuna 2 eggs 1 cup cornflakes crumbs

How can I make this healthier (healthiest)?

To make your No Fail Tuna Patties healthier, consider the following modifications:

  1. Replace mayonnaise: Use Greek yogurt or avocado instead of mayonnaise to reduce calories and add protein. You might want to use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup.
  2. Reduce salt: Consider using low-sodium tuna and cutting back on the salt, or use herbs and spices for flavor instead (like black pepper, paprika, or lemon zest).
  3. Increase vegetables: Add finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or spinach to boost fiber and nutrients.
  4. Change the crumbs: Instead of cornflakes, use whole grain bread crumbs or oat flour. You could even use ground oats for a gluten-free option.
  5. Use egg whites: If you’re looking to reduce fat further, you can use 1 whole egg plus 1-2 egg whites instead of 2 whole eggs.
  6. Baking option: Instead of frying, bake the patties in the oven to reduce fat content. Brush with a bit of olive oil or cooking spray to help them crisp up.
