Yields about 24 pieces
1 package mini puff pastry squares
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup thinly chopped scallions
1/2 teaspoon Haddar Kosher Salt
1 teaspoon baharat or hawaij for coffee
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
2 eggs, divided
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, mix the beef with the scallions, salt, baharat or hawaij, sesame seeds, and one egg until integrated.
Place one tablespoon of the meat mixture in the center of a puff pastry square. Fold two of the opposite sides down like a bookmark so that it sticks to the pastry- do not fold over the meat. Press down to stick. Pinch together the remaining ends so you are left with what looks like an oblong eye shape. Place in an oiled 9 x 13 pan. Repeat until the meat mixture is finished (you may have leftover pastry squares).
Mix the remaining egg together with a tablespoon of Gefen Garlic Aioli and brush over the pastry.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy with Gefen Garlic Aioli.
