There’s nothing that fresh lemon can’t solve. With these few simple ingredients, you’re about to turn your run-of-the-mill salmon into something so much more.
2 large onions, sliced
1 to 1 and 1/4 cups sugar, divided
juice of 2 lemons (about 1/2 cup), plus 1 lemon for garnish
Gefen Salt, to taste
Pereg Black Pepper, to taste
8 (4-to-6-ounce) salmon fillets
In a large pot, sauté onions with 1/4 cup sugar until golden.
Add four to five cups water, lemon juice, salt, pepper and remaining 3/4 cup to one cup sugar (as per desired sweetness level). Mix and bring to a boil. Add salmon, cover, and cook for one hour.
Serve with a slice of fresh lemon.
