My daughter and I developed these cookies a while ago, when I was looking for a way to sneak some healthier ingredients into my family’s diet.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons flour or Shibolim White Spelt Flour

  • 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

Prepare the Cookies

1.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

2.

Place all ingredients except chocolate chips into the bowl of a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, in the order listed. Mix just until combined.

3.

Add chocolate chips and mix a bit more.

4.

Use an ice cream scoop to form cookies and place onto a baking sheet lined with Gefen Parchment Paper, about two inches (five centimeters) apart.

5.

Bake until golden and set, about 14 minutes. Allow to cool and enjoy.

Prepare the Cookies

Yields 36 cookies

Hi Raizel,
That’s a great way to make these even healthier!
You definitely can, you may just need to tweak the recipe a bit to get it just right. I would do 3/4 maple syrup for 1 cup of sugar, and since maple syrup is more liquidy, I may lessen the oil a little.

Let us know how it turns out!

Wheat bran, oat bran, and ground flaxseed are all good substitutes.
