This soup is so rich and filling, it’s a hearty meal on its own.
6 large onions, sliced
4 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
salt
pepper
1-to-2-pound package vacuum-packed pastrami
12 cups (3 quarts) Manischewitz Chicken Broth
2 bay leaves
Sauté onions and garlic with salt and pepper until onions are translucent.
Add pastrami, chicken broth, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil and allow to cook for five minutes. Lower the flame, then cover pot and allow to simmer for four to five hours.
Remove pastrami, shred with two forks, and return to the soup.
