A very easy and crowd-pleasing recipe for basic cheesy baked ziti. Kids love it, and this is always on my dinner rotation.
1 pound (450 grams) ziti noodles such as Tuscanini Penne Pasta
1/2 (500-g.) container cottage cheese, about 1/2 pound (I use 4% cottage cheese)
1/4 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
1/2 – 3/4 cup grated cheese
12 ounces (355 milliliters) tomato sauce (I prefer Gefen Tomato Sauce)
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
Boil pasta for 10 minutes and drain.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a 9 x 13-inch pan, mix tomato sauce with cottage cheese and sour cream until all combined. Add drained pasta and combine.
Sprinkle half a cup of grated cheese on top of pasta mixture (for cheesier pasta, combine one-fourth cup grated cheese into noodles and continue with an extra half cup grated cheese on top).
Bake for 20 minutes.

Very easy to make. I found it great as a quick recipe when there’s no milk at hand (there are a lot of other zitti recipes that use milk and yogurt seems like a great alternative).
I used pizza sauce and cooked my zitti uncovered. Also, I used a vanilla yogurt. There was a tiny tinge of vanilla to the zitti so I think I’ll go with a plain yogurt next time.
It was a bit messier than other zitti recipes, and the noodles just fell apart when pieces were sliced.
Would I make this again? Totally!
Very easy and delicious
I substituted pizza sauce for tomato sauce. Delicious and easy to make
