Gnocchi is a dish found on the menu of many high-end restaurants but here is an easy way to create it in the home! The bonus here is that one sauce can be used on gnocchi for adults (for a full delicious meal you can add a salad or soup on the side) and on pasta for the kids! One easy dish feeds the whole family!
2 Tbsp oil
1 onion, diced
1 box fresh mushrooms or 1 8-oz can mushrooms
1 tsp salt
Pinch of black pepper
1 package Bartenura gnocchi
2 Tbsp butter or oil
2 Tbsp flour
1 and 1/4 cups milk (whole milk is best)
1 tsp salt
Pinch of black pepper
Parmesan or Romano cheese
Sauté diced onion in oil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add mushrooms, salt and pepper and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
While vegetables are cooking, prepare gnocchi as per package instructions. Once gnocchi is cooked and drained, use the empty saucepan to prepare the cream sauce.
Heat butter/oil and add flour, keep on low-medium flame for 3 minutes, stirring constantly so it bubbles and heats through. Add milk and bring it to a boil. Then lower the flame and let it cook 2-3 minutes, stirring throughout.
When ready to serve, add vegetables into the cream sauce and then mix gnocchi in. Sprinkle Parmesan or Romano cheese before serving.
