These waffles are so soft and fluffy; it’s hard to stop at just one! Enjoy topped with ice cream or whip.
1 and 1/4 cups Glicks Flour
5 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon Gefen Salt
1/4 cup Gefen Cocoa Powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 and 1/4 cups milk
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter, melted
1 egg, separated
1/2 cup Glicks Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup crushed pecans (for assembly)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter
3/4 cup Haddar Brown Sugar
In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda and mix well.
Place milk, butter, and egg yolk in another bowl. Whisk to combine.
Slowly whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined (some lumps are fine).
Add egg white and chocolate chips and mix with a rubber spatula until the egg is incorporated. Set aside.
Meanwhile, prepare the caramel sauce. In small saucepan over low heat, combine heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar. Cook until butter is melted and sauce begins to simmer and thicken. Let simmer for five minutes.
Preheat greased waffle maker.
Pour half a cup batter onto the iron, sprinkle with some crushed pecans, and drizzle with one to two tablespoons caramel sauce. Top with an additional quarter cup of batter, making sure there are no holes.
Cover and bake according to manufacturer instructions. Once ready, remove the waffle and cut each into four pieces.
Serve with ice cream and/or whipped cream with more crushed pecans and the remaining caramel sauce.
