This delicious family favorite looks like it takes hours to prepare but is really simple. The cake can be made ahead and frozen and then topped before serving. A real show stopper!
1 and 1/2 cups ground nuts (I use almonds)
1 and 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 and 1/2 cups light brown sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 package Devil’s Food cake mix
2 cups parve whipping cream
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare three 9″ round pans by lining them with parchment paper.
Combine first four ingredients and mix well. Divide the mixture and pat well into each of the pans letting it go up the sides a bit.
Prepare cake mix as per package directions and pour over the mixture in each of the three pans. Bake approximately 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when testing.
Let cool in the pans. (I have wrapped the cakes and frozen them at this point). Remove from the pans and continue cooling on a rack.
Whip cream stiffly and divide to smear between the layers of the cake and on top but NOT on the sides.
