A friend of mine gave me this recipe many years ago, and somehow I never had the chance to try it. While looking for ideas for Mishloach Manos (for the holiday of Purim) that can be prepared in advance, I found this recipe and decided to try it out. It really is as delicious as she claimed, and the house smells amazing while it is baking.
3 cups almonds
2 cups pecan halves
2 cups walnut halves
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup water
2–3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Place nuts on a lined baking sheet and toast for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, stir together the sugar, water and cinnamon in a bowl.
Remove the nuts from the oven and pour mixture over them. Using a wooden spoon, mix them together lightly, until evenly coated.
Bake for 10 minutes. Toss or mix lightly to recoat the nuts and bake for 10 minutes longer. Mix again immediately after it comes out of the oven. Be careful – it’s very hot!
Yields 7 cups

Oven temperature? At what temperature should the nuts be baked at?
Very original for shaloch manos! These taste great but I wouldn’t mind a little sweeter. Can I just up the sugar or are the ingredients proportioned?
Totally.
Wow ! These turned out great ! Keeping this snack lower in sugar …. The only change I made was I used Truvia brown sugar instead of regular white sugar…..they turned out wonderful !
Great to know!
