These soft and tasty bars are chock-full of yummy flavors, a nice twist on the classic chocolate chip bar. Since I believe that practically everything is enhanced with chocolate, I like to sprinkle the top of the batter with additional chocolate chips before baking.
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) margarine (use soy-free, if needed), softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 cup butterscotch-flavored chips
Glicks Chocolate Chips for sprinkling (optional)
1/4 cup butterscotch-flavored chips, melted
2 tablespoons Glicks Chocolate Chips, melted
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Mix together melted butterscotch and chocolate chips and drizzle on top for a pretty effect. Cut into bars.
In a large mixing bowl, cream sugars and margarine until light and fluffy. Add next four ingredients one at a time, until batter is smooth. Slowly stir in pecans and butterscotch chips until combined.
Place in a 9- x 13-inch (20- x 30-centimeter) baking pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired. Bake for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
