Ingredients

Best Chulent

  • chunks of pastrami (optional)

  • large squirt of ketchup (3 tablespoons or so)

  • 2-3 pieces potato kugel (store-bought or leftover) (optional)

  • large squirt of favorite BBQ sauce (3 tablespoons or so)

  • 2 tablespoons honey (can use silan instead)

  • 4.5 cups of water

  • garlic powder, about 2 T.

  • chili powder, about 1 tsp

  • 1 cup barley

  • generous amount of onion soup mix, about 3 T.

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 1 pound (approx) chulent style meat (on the bone is better!)

  • 1 potato, peeled and in chunks

  • 1 turkey neck (optional)

  • 1 sweet potato, peeled and in chunks

Directions

Prepare the Best Chulent

1.

In crock-pot: Spray crock-pot with Pam for easier cleanup (or use special liners)

Put all in crock-pot on medium on Friday morning and let cook all day. Switch to low just before Shabbos.
