chunks of pastrami (optional)
large squirt of ketchup (3 tablespoons or so)
2-3 pieces potato kugel (store-bought or leftover) (optional)
large squirt of favorite BBQ sauce (3 tablespoons or so)
2 tablespoons honey (can use silan instead)
4.5 cups of water
garlic powder, about 2 T.
chili powder, about 1 tsp
1 cup barley
generous amount of onion soup mix, about 3 T.
1 large onion, chopped
1 pound (approx) chulent style meat (on the bone is better!)
1 potato, peeled and in chunks
1 turkey neck (optional)
1 sweet potato, peeled and in chunks
In crock-pot: Spray crock-pot with Pam for easier cleanup (or use special liners)
Put all in crock-pot on medium on Friday morning and let cook all day. Switch to low just before Shabbos.
