Ingredients

Baked Churros

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • oil spray, such as Glicks

Directions

1.

Put water, margarine or butter, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt in a small pot.

2.

Turn on a low flame and let it sit till it starts to simmer a bit. Add flour and whisk well till there are no clumps, for about one minute, and then turn off the flame and remove the pot from the hot burner.

3.

Whisk eggs with vanilla in a bowl with a fork, and slowly add it to the dough mixture a very small amount at a time, like one to two tablespoons’ worth. Make sure it’s fully incorporated into the dough mixture, and then add more egg a few tablespoons at a time till its fully combined.

4.

Transfer the batter to a piping bag with a star tip at the bottom or a ziplock bag (the ridges are just fancy, it will taste the same without them!). Pipe out long sticks of dough onto your baking sheet, and place in a 400-degree oven for about 20 minutes or until lightly golden.

5.

While your churros are baking, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a ziplock bag.

6.

When the churros are done baking, spray them well with oil and then drop them into the ziplock bag with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

7.

Serve with sauces or toppings of your choice and enjoy!
