6-8 apples, thinly sliced
1/4 cup orange or lemon juice
4 ounces margarine (use soy-free, if needed)
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
dash of salt
Arrange apples in an eight-inch pie plate. Pour the juice over the apples.
Mix remaining ingredients and sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 minutes.

Hi! Will this also be good if I substitute oil for margarine?

Hi,
It’s hard to know without trying, but it should be fine as long as you use a neutral oil. I would say use about 1/2 or 3/4 the amount of oil to margarine.

This recipe is very easy to make and tastes delicious. It can be served warm with a scoop of ice cream or served room temperature. My whole family really liked this one.
And I quote “Best crisp ever” My husband doesn’t usually go for crisp or cobblers, but he really liked this one. I used 1/4 c of freshly squeezed lemon juice and baked in corningware dish.
