As we approach the Nine Days, our staff has come together to share our tried-and-true recipes that our families enjoy. From comforting classics to innovative new dishes, we invite you to take a look at each of our menus in hopes they will help you plan yours. Feel free to take notes, gather ideas, or adopt entire menus. We hope these selections help you plan a week full of delicious meat-free meals without any complaints.

Monday – Renee Schwartz (Kosherdotcom Recipe Editor):

Since Sunday night dinner is Shabbos leftovers, by Monday we’re ready for some hot fresh food again. In this busy summer season, with my kids home much of the day, I’m heavily relying on my freezer to keep us fed with minimal fuss. I love that you can prep two of these tuna quiches and then freeze one for later. Cabbage salads are really handy because they can be prepped earlier in the day when you have time. I’m planning to use my julienne peeler to make the carrot ribbons a little more robust. And I love how freezing the fruits in layers makes really pretty, fancy-looking ice pops with very little effort.

Tuesday – Leah Gottheim (Kosherdotcom VP):

I am one of those people who actually prefer milchigs! That said, I do make a number of fleishig dinners (meatloaf, beef stew, chicken…) on my regular rotation. So I do still have to make adjustments this week, and it does take extra thought and planning. I usually have very little time to cook dinner, so it has to be quick! Frozen, precut veggies are one of my favorite shortcuts. I plan to make Green Eggs and Cheese, plus a smoothie.

Wednesday- Nechami Goldman (Kosherdotcom Video Producer):

Hear me out when I say I’m not a tofu person, but I got to taste this recipe when Esty made it on set, and now I’m hooked. I knew this was going to be on my Nine Days menu way back when we filmed the episode in early spring. It’s an all-in-one supper, and the flavors are spot on.

Fun fact about me: my birthday is during the Nine Days (hence my name), so we’re celebrating with strawberry mocktails, since alcohol is out. And store-bought churros pair with a homemade dipping sauce because I prefer eating to baking on my special day.

Thursday – Chanie Nayman (Kosherdotcom Editor-in-Chief):

Falafel Night is always my favorite night of the Nine Days, because I think it’s the most well-rounded meal and a real crowd pleaser, at least for my family!

Friday – Goldy Guttman (Kosherdotcom Director):

Every Friday afternoon, my family gathers to eat ‘toamehu.’ We taste some of the shabbos food, we curb our hunger, before rushing to get ready for Shabbos. During the Nine Days, we can’t taste any meat food that was prepared for Shabbos, but I figured out the perfect pre-Shabbos menu that will satisfy everyone. I even make this pareve cholent for weeknight dinner sometimes!

Sunday – Avigael Levi (Kosherdotcom Marketing Assistant):

My goal when making supper, or any meal really, is ‘What can I prep for my health-nut-self that will also be edible for my non-health-nut husband?’ I aim for some healthier recipes that I’ll enjoy, and some that my husband will enjoy- Balance. Mainly, I try for recipes that are easy enough to make for supper and even better as leftovers the next day (well, garlic bread is best fresh, but I’m talking everything else). These ones check the boxes.

Monday – Rachel Kor (Kosherdotcom Managing Lifestyle Editor):

Preparing the pre-Tisha B’av meal requires careful planning. After a week of fish and dairy meals, another fish dish won’t be appealing. With the rush to get the kids to bed before going to shul, the dinner must be a guaranteed hit. Salty foods like feta and vinaigrettes are off the table, and it has to be easy and quick to prepare to avoid total exhaustion before the fast begins.

This 9-day menu addresses all these needs for my family. For added hydration, I’ll include wedges of fresh watermelon and finish with a kid-friendly dessert like cookies or muffins.
