Hi, we’re Shoshi and Tzippy Newman, two sisters under the age of 12 who love to bake for Shabbat! Join us as we bake up easy, kid-friendly treats for Shabbat!
This past week, we had two of those huge tubs of pretzels in our house that we wanted to get rid of. My mother said that we should do something with them! We thought of making chocolate-covered pretzels but that would be so boring! So we decided to coat them in crushed-up peppermint candies.
They were sooooo good!! We’re totally going to make them again soon!
Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels
Ingredients:
16 ounces chocolate chips
16 ounces mini twist pretzels, or pretzels of your choice
1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
Equipment:
1 glass bowl, for melting the chocolate
1 baking sheet lined with parchment paper
1 ziplock bag, for crushing the crushed peppermint candies
Directions:
1. Crush the peppermint candy.
2. Melt chocolate in the microwave 30 seconds at a time until fully smooth. You can use a double boiler to melt the chocolate if you don’t have a microwave.
3. Dip a pretzel into the chocolate. You can coat the pretzel completely or dip halfway in the chocolate for an elegant look.
4. Then cover the pretzel in the crushed peppermint candy, to your liking.
5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool. Repeat with the remaining pretzels.
Enjoy!!
