Sweet Sisters’: Lag B’omer S’mores Krispie Treats

Hi, we’re Shoshi and Tzippy Newman. Two sisters under the age of 12 who love to bake for Shabbat! Join us as we bake up easy, kid-friendly treats for Shabbat each week!

We’re back with another recipe for you! This time, it’s in honor of Lag B’omer. We loooove s’mores. Actually, scratch that, we looove anything with marshmallows! We dreamed up a recipe for you that’s easy and delicious and perfect for a big crowd. S’mores can get uh, you know, a little messy. So get ready to keep making batches and batches of these! By the way, it makes us feel so good when you write in to tell us how much you enjoy our recipes! Especially the babka bars, which were such a huge hit with you all!

Step One:

Clear your counters!

Step Two:

Wash your hands!

Step Three:

Gather your ingredients:

Ingredients Needed:

Graham Cracker Crumbs:

1 sleeve graham crackers

1 stick margarine (1/2 cup), room temperature

Krispie treats:

1/2 an 18-ounce box of crispy rice cereal

1 container marshmallow fluff

1 tablespoon margarine

Chocolate Topping:

1 (9-ounce) bag chocolate chips

1/4 cup whipped topping

1 tablespoon margarine

Step Four:

Gather your equipment:

9×13-inch pan lined with parchment paper

Small glass bowl (to melt the chocolate chips)
Large bowl (to mix the krispie treats)

Step Five:

First make the graham cracker crumb topping. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place graham crackers and margarine in a ziplock bag and smash it till it forms crumbs. Spread into an even layer on your cookie sheet and bake until lightly toasted, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Step Six:

Make the krispie treats. Pour the crispy rice cereal into the large bowl. Melt the marshmallow fluff for 30 seconds to 1 minute in the microwave. Then place margarine in the microwave till it’s melted. Pour both into the crispy rice cereal and mix well. Press into the prepared 9×13-inch pan.

Step Seven:

Melt the chocolate in a microwave for 30 seconds at a time until smooth. When fully melted, add in the margarine and whipped topping and mix well. Pour over the cereal layer and sprinkle with the graham cracker crumbs. Place immediately in the fridge. When it’s fully firm, cut into squares.

Step Eight:

Enjoy!!

See ya next time! Bye!
